Andrea's son, Alex, and his sister, Eva, as soon as I arrived at their Surfside home (same house where I stayed twice before), showed me Alex's legos - including his lego castle and lego pirate ship (which reminded me a little of Vincent's pirate ship from his childhood).
Christoph, originally from Germany, has a Ph.D. from Florida State University (where Andrea - if I remember right - was a law student). He's parlayed his computer and analytical skills into a series of jobs for businesses where he sometimes does IT work but often is involved in computer-related business decision-making. He loved the Twin Cities, where he rode his bike for several hours every Saturday AM rain, snow, or shine. He doesn't like South Florida, but they've been there for 10 years plus (and Andrea's sister and her family, Andrea's mother, and Andrea's father and his family live there).
Andrea - who like Penny I believe quit running cross country - before they were high school seniors - went on to Emory and D.C. jobs and then has worked for several federal judges - recently went back to running in a big way, starting to compete in triathlons. She had one coming up the next weekend. She said Eva - who was usually perfectly behaved - was a little difficult that night (though mild for our house) because she's excited when there are guests. The two kids take German at the school they go to in Coral Gables, on the whole other side of town. The kids were proud of some of their accomplishments, but were fun to talk with.
